9 Best Centella Asiatica Serums & Ampoules

Centella asiatica, in case you don’t already know, is a perennial herb that has been used in folk medicine for hundreds of years, and is widely touted as one of the best ingredients for treating inflammation. It’s rich in amino acids, beta carotene, fatty acids, phytochemicals, and in multiple studies has been shown to help repair the skin’s protective barrier and mitigate the effects of sun damage.

It’s a fantastic ingredient that would benefit nearly anyone, and if you’re not already incorporating it into your skin care routine, you definitely should.

That being said, there are countless products that included in their ingredient list, and it can be hard to choose a good one out of the bunch. To save you time and money, I created a list of the best (and my favorite) centella asiatica serums. I hope it’ll make your search for the perfect serum easier.

Let’s get to it!

1. SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Asiatica Ampoule

If you want a serum that’s just straight-up centella asiatica – literally – SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Asiatica Ampoule is the one for you. It’s pure extract, mixed with zero fillers, and like other extracts, is extremely potent.

If you want something that packs an anti-inflammatory, wound healing punch, and is fungal acne safe, this is the serum to try. Also, for those of you who suffer from rosacea like I do, you may be happily surprised by the results you get with it. It cut down my redness significantly – not as much as azelaic acid or prescription medication, of course, but enough to make a noticeable difference.

2. Be Plain Cicaful Ampoule

BE PLAIN is another one of my go-to skin care lines (their chamomile toner is extraordinary, it does wonders for my dehydrated skin), and they have multiple serums that I love, use, and recommend.

My favorite of the bunch is their Cicaful Ampoule. It contains a whopping 84.24% centella asiatica extract, which gives it the benefits of being a potent serum without being a straight up extract like SKIN1004’s Ampoule. It also gives it a more lightweight feel, helps it absorb faster, and gives it a more cosmetically elegant consistency.

The serum is also formulated with other soothing ingredients like chamomile extract, glycerin, and saccharomyces ferment filtrate. (a water-like substance made from fermenting and filtering yeast that is rich in all kinds of goodies like essential minerals, amino acids, beta-glucan and vitamins.)

3. NCN Pro Skincare Copper Peptide Amino Complex Formula I

Before I go into the details of this serum, I just want to say it’s a bit more expensive, so if you don’t have money to spare, I’d skip this one.

That being said, NCN Pro Skincare GHK-Cu Copper Peptide Amino Complex Formula I has an absolutely phenomenal ingredient list. It’s formulated with goodies like aloe extract, licorice extract, collagen, sea kelp bioferment, copper tripeptide, beta-glucan, and of course, centella asiatica extract. The consistency it’s what makes it really stand out, though. It’s silky smooth, extremely lightweight and absorbent, and doesn’t pill like a lot of other serums do. 10/10 would recommend.

4. Beauty of Joseon Calming Serum

Of all the serums on this list, Beauty of Joseon’s Calming Serum is the one I use the most because it’s much more affordable than my other favorites while still having a stellar ingredient list. And it’s no surprise why I like it so much. It’s formulated with my three favorite ingredients – centella asiatica, green tea, and panthenol. (a whopping 76.49% green tea water, at that) If that combo doesn’t sound calming, I don’t know what does.

This serum is great for those with extremely sensitive skin, and has exceptional soothing and wound healing properties. I like to use it after particularly rough days like plane flights, long days in the sun, and backpacking trips.

5. PURITO Centella Unscented Serum

PURITO’s Centella Unscented Serum is another great product that won’t break the bank, and is one that I would 100% recommend. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and goes on sort of like a thinner version of aloe vera. Some of the best ingredients include niacinamide, adenosine, ceramide, panthenol, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, and centella asiatica extract.

I recommend this product to people frequently, because I really like the brand it’s made by. All of PURITO’s products are vegan, cruelty free, eco-friendly, and are formulated with ingredients that are safe and effective.

6. iUNIK Tea Tree Relief Facial Serum

I don’t use this product because tea tree and me don’t get along (hello darkness, my old friend) but I know multiple people that rave about this product, so I thought it was only fair to include it on this list. IUNIK’s Tea tree Relief Natural Facial Serum includes 67% tea tree leaf water and 19.5% centella asiatica leaf water, along with niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, and a ton of plant extracts.

The main reason I’m so bummed that I can’t use this serum is because it supposedly fantastic for acne-prone skin, which I have had for many, many years. If you’re not sensitive to tea tree though, and suffer from acne, you might as well give it a shot!

7. I’m From Rice Serum

I love rice in and out of skin care, so I’m From’s Rice Serum holds a special place in my heart. Fermented rice, in particular, is a favorite skincare ingredient of mine. It’s shown to help improve skin damage from the sun, is antioxidant-rich, and helps repair and maintain the skin barrier, which is crucial for people like me who suffer from perpetually weak skin barriers.

It’s got a fantastic ingredient list including:

73% rice germ fermented extract

  • Glycerin
  • Niacinamide
  • Squalane
  • Panthenol
  • Allantoin
  • Adenosine
  • Hyaluronic Acid

Madecassoside (a super concentrated component of centella asiatica that gives it its wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties)

It has a light gel texture, leaves zero residue once it’s warmed, is cruelty free, vegan, artificial fragrance-free, and is non-GMO.

8. AMPLE:N Centel Calming Shot Ampoule

If you want a serum that is formulated with a ton of other plant extracts alongside centella asiatica, AMPLE:N’s Centel Calming Shot Ampoule might fit the bill. It contains more than eight different extracts, is paraben free, artificial fragrance free, and is free from irritating ingredients.

It is a thicker serum that leaves a bit of a residue after application, but I find I like that sometimes. On days I apply actives like azelaic acid or tretinoin, I like to slather on a ton of emollients and occlusives afterwards, and this is a great serum for that.

9. APLB Bee Pollen Propolis Ampoule Serum

This is the last serum on this list, but it’s certainly not the least. APLB’s Bee Pollen Propolis Ampoule Serum is an awesome serum that’s formulated with centella asiatica, but what makes it special is it’s high concentration of pollen extract.

This is actually the first product I ever used with pollen extract, and I liked it so much I began incorporating it in other steps of my skincare regimen. It’s not the most common ingredient, but it’s one I really like, and I think most others would agree. Pollen extract is a natural source of antioxidants such as phenolic acids and polyphenols, is anti-inflammatory, provides skin soothing benefits, it is a fantastic ingredients for sensitive skin.

If you want to give something new a shot, this is a great serum to try!

That’s it!

Those are all of my favorite serums that incorporate centella asiatica. I’m sure I’ve missed some, so if there’s one that you love that I didn’t mention, feel free to let me know about it in the comments below!
